Insurance & Payment Information
Insurance can feel complicated, especially when you’re caring for a new baby.
We’ve simplified the process so you can get the help you need without waiting on approvals or getting stuck in paperwork.
Option 1: Self-Pay
(fastest + simplest route)
Many families choose to schedule a self-pay visit right away because it allows them to:
-
get support immediately
-
avoid waiting for insurance verification
-
know exactly what they’ll owe
-
submit for potential reimbursement later
Self-pay is straightforward, stress-free, and lets us focus entirely on you and not your insurance plan. We accept HSA/FSA, credit/debit, cash, and check, and you’ll receive a superbill you can submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement (you can check with your insurance company ahead of time to see what codes they cover for lactation support.)
Option 2: Insurance
(through TLN or Wildflower)
Insurance may be an option with some plans, but coverage is not guaranteed and must be verified before your visit. The verification process can take several days, and approval depends on your specific plan and benefits.
If you choose to use insurance, we partner with The Lactation Network (TLN) and Wildflower.
A Note on Timing
Because insurance verification is not immediate, we encourage families who need timely support to consider self-pay so care isn’t delayed during an important moment.
How Insurance Works at LCE
-
You complete an intake form with TLN or Wildflower.
-
They contact your insurance company on your behalf.
-
You’ll receive an email letting you know if your visit is approved and how many visits may be covered.
Once approved, TLN or Wildflower handles all insurance billing directly.

Wildflower Lactation
Covers all Cigna and some Anthem plans.
These partners verify benefits, handle billing, and simplify the process from start to finish. If approved, they bill your insurance directly for lactation visits. For more information on Anthem Coverage see our latest blog post.
Why We Use TLN & Wildflower
Because traditional insurance systems are slow, inconsistent, and burdensome for families. TLN and Wildflower simplify everything by:
-
verifying coverage
-
communicating directly with your insurance
-
managing billing
-
reducing stress and paperwork for you
-
allowing us to focus on care, not claims
Our goal is always to reduce your mental load—not add to it.
Why You Shouldn’t Wait on Insurance to Get Lactation Support
Feeding challenges rarely appear at “a good time,” and coverage decisions can take longer than expected. Your well-being and your baby’s comfort matter more than an approval email.
Even if you’re unsure whether lactation care is covered, you still deserve:
-
expert, evidence-based guidance
-
hands-on help that brings clarity and calm
-
relief from pain, stress, and uncertainty
-
a plan that supports both you and your baby
Whether or not insurance covers your visit; you’ll receive the same high-quality, whole-person care.
